Does Your Golf MK7 Have ACC?
Adaptive Cruise Control isn’t a standard feature on all Golf MK7 and MK7.5 vehicles. It is an optional feature on premium models including Highline, R-Line, GTI Performance and Golf R. Whether your car has this radar system depends on its original factory build options. If there’s no radar sensor behind your front logo, you can install the LED emblem and needn’t worry about radar compatibility. However, you need to confirm the correct size for your car.
There are two easy ways to confirm that your car has ACC hardware. First, you can check the buttons on your steering wheel if there are dedicated cruise or Front Assist controls. Second, you can search menus for Front Assist or Adaptive Cruise Control in the infotainment screen settings. On most GTI and Golf R models with Discover Pro or Discover Media head units, it is easy for you to find the ACC from the factory. If your car has ACC radar, you should buy the updated radar-safe LED emblem, which works with MK7.5 sensor hardware.
Two Wiring Methods — Which One Works for Your Golf
There are built-in factory LED daytime running light strips on Golf MK7.5 high trims from 2017 to 2020. Therefore, you can install the plug-and-play emblem easily. Third, you can reattach the original DRL plug. The emblem draws power from the daytime running light circuit. So it will light up when you turn on the DRLs. There is no need to connect to the fuse box. This is the easiest and most popular way for MK7.5 owners.
However, there are no factory LED light strips on older 2012–2016 Golf MK7s. At this time, you’d better connect the emblem to the fuse box. Firstly, you should connect the positive lead to a low-current slot. It is inside the engine bay fuse panel and is controlled by the ignition switch. Secondly, you should fasten the ground wire to an unpainted metal part of the car’s frame. From then on, the LED emblem will light up when you turn on the ignition and shut off when you stop the car. In all, you don’t need vehicle coding or VCDS software adjustments for either wiring method.
Line Style vs Full Illumination on the Golf MK7
