How the ID.4 Emblem Wiring Works
Ordinary VW cars only use one circuit wire for the lit emblem, but the ID.4 uses a dual-plug system. After you fit the new emblem on the front grille, two plugs can be reached from the back of the emblem base. These two plugs link straight to the ID.4 front LED emblem and send power from the car’s stock light strips.

How to Wire the VW ID.4 Front LED Emblem — Step by Step
Step 1 — Identify the four matching wires
Your kit includes the following wires:
- 1 × White wire— connects to the negative (−) terminal of the LED bar plug
- 2 × Green wires— each connects to the positive (+) terminal of one LED bar plug
Step 2 — Connect the white wire
Find the negative pin on either LED bar plug, then attach the white wire from the emblem’s wiring set here. This ground wire finishes the full electrical circuit.
Step 3 — Connect the two green wires
The ID.4 has separate LED bar plugs on its left and right front sides. Hook one green wire to the positive (+) pin of the left plug, and the other green wire to the positive (+) pin of the right plug. Both sides of the light bar supply power to the emblem at the same time, so the logo glows uniformly across the entire surface.
Step 4 — Verify and secure
Before putting the grille parts back together, you should start the car to check that the emblem lights up evenly. After confirming it works, you need to wrap every wire joint with electrical tape to insulate and prevent damage from shaking. Fold and hide extra wiring neatly behind the grille panel.

Important Notes
This guide applies only to ID.4 models with factory front LED bars. The two-plug wiring layout introduced here is built specially for the ID.4 electric vehicle platform. If you own other common VW car lines such as Golf, Tiguan, or Passat, you cannot follow this wiring process, since these models adopt a regular single T-shaped wiring harness for their illuminated emblems.
Do not connect both green wires to the same plug. Each green wire is meant to receive power signals separately from the left and right light bars. If you attach them to the same plug, one half of the emblem will fail to light up, or the logo will glow dimly and unevenly due to an insufficient power supply.
Insulate every connection before closing up. Uncovered metal terminals behind the grille will constantly face vibration while driving, as well as rain and dampness. It only takes a short time to wrap each connection separately with electrical tape, and this simple step can effectively prevent metal from rusting and unexpected electrical short circuits during long-term use.
