Atlas Model Years and Generations Covered
This VW Atlas LED Emblem Guide will provide you with all the necessary information to enhance your Atlas with this upgrade.
The VW Atlas LED emblem is suitable for all Atlas models from 2018(launch year) to 2025. The Atlas went through a significant mid-cycle refresh for the 2020 model year. The designer adjusted its front styling, grille structure, and headlight patterns. Despite the exterior changes, the mounting base for the grille emblem on the Atlas remains the same across all model years. The installation location and physical sizes are also the same as previous versions. This means one single emblem is suitable for models from 2018 to 2025, and you don’t need to worry about years.
The Atlas Cross Sport is the two-row coupe-style model of the Atlas. It first came out in 2020. What’s more, it has the same front badge housing as the regular three-row Atlas. Therefore, you can install the same emblem on it.
ACC Compatibility — Why It Is Non-Optional for Most Atlas Buyers
Every Atlas SE, SEL, SEL R-Line, and SEL Premium trim that was built from 2018 has radar-based Adaptive Cruise Control as a standard feature. In real-world traffic, almost all Atlas on the road belong to these equipped trims. This means the radar sensor is located behind the front badge on almost every Atlas you may come across. On models such as the Jetta and Golf, you may not find ACC, or it is just an optional feature. In contrast, Atlas owners can ensure their vehicle has ACC hardware unless they own the basic S model without any technology upgrade package.
The current-generation Atlas LED emblem has a 7mm radar-friendly housing. After testing, the emblem can match well with the Atlas factory ACC hardware. Installation will not trigger dashboard warning indicators. Also, it will not affect automatic emergency braking. Moreover, you don’t need professional radar recalibration. In all, you can install the emblem on your vehicles from 2018 to 2025 without hesitation.

Wiring — LED Bar Method vs Fuse Box Method
You should choose the wiring approach according to your Atlas model and year.
2020–2025 Atlas with factory LED daytime running bars: You can connect the T-harness, and it is also the preferred installation method. You can refer to our LED bar connection guide. First, you should disconnect the factory LED bar plug on either the left or right side. Second, you can connect the emblem wiring harness as an intermediate adapter. Third, you should connect the original daytime running bar to the opposite terminal. The emblem can draw power from the shared DRL electrical circuit. So you don’t need to use the vehicle’s fuse box. It takes you about ten minutes to finish this wiring work after you take off the front grille.
For 2018–2019 Atlas models without factory LED bars, you should use the fuse box. First, you should guide the wiring harness from the grille emblem into the engine bay. Second, you should connect to an ignition-controlled power circuit inside the fuse block with a fuse tap adapter. Third, you should secure the negative ground wire to a bare, unpainted metal grounding surface. After that, the emblem will light up as soon as you turn on the vehicle ignition.
Factory Illuminated Badge vs Our LED Emblem
Since 2021, Atlas SEL Premium trims have an OEM light-up front badge as a standard feature. If you own this model and hope to replace the factory light badge, our Atlas LED emblem is the best choice and can fit perfectly. You may want brighter output, a different light effect, or the newer-generation product. Whatever you want, this emblem will not let you down. What’s more, you can use the original wiring under the hood lining directly and don’t need to cut or alter any wires.
Line Style or Full Illumination for the Atlas
For 2020 and newer Atlas with factory LED daytime strips, you had better choose the line style. The outline glow matches well with the thin light bars. You can enjoy an outstanding and factory-like front light effect. For older 2018–2019 Atlas models without stock LED bars, we recommend that you choose the full illumination. The Atlas grille is large and looks heavy, so the solid bright emblem can match well with the style. Instead, the faint line style may get lost against the wide grille.
