Wiring Connection — Dual T-Harness Method
The ID.5 uses a dual-plug LED bar system with connectors on both the left and right sides of the front panel. The light-up emblem harness has three wires and connects as follows:
- White wire → Negative (−) terminal of either LED bar plug
- Green wire (1) → Positive (+) terminal of the left LED bar plug
- Green wire (2) → Positive (+) terminal of the right LED bar plug
Both green wires must be connected — one to each side — to ensure stable, even power delivery to the emblem. The emblem then illuminates automatically alongside the factory LED bars every time the car is running. Full ID.5-specific wiring diagram and instructions are included with every order.
Installation — Under 25 Minutes
- Access the badge housing from behind the front grille panel — the closed-panel construction of the ID.5 makes this more accessible than on combustion-engine models
- Release the factory badge retaining clips and remove the factory VW roundel
- Press the LED emblem firmly into the mounting position until all clips engage
- Connect the white wire to the negative terminal of either LED bar plug
- Connect the first green wire to the positive terminal of the left LED bar plug
- Connect the second green wire to the positive terminal of the right LED bar plug
- Insulate all connections individually with electrical tape and secure excess harness
- Start the vehicle and confirm even illumination across the full badge face
