Important Note for Electric Vehicle Owners

The ID.3 uses a 12V low-voltage auxiliary battery system alongside its high-voltage drive battery. The rear LED emblem connects exclusively to the 12V auxiliary circuit via the license plate light or tail light wiring — it does not interact with the high-voltage EV system, the battery management system, or any regenerative braking components. The installation is identical in process to a standard VW model and presents no additional electrical risk specific to the electric drivetrain.

Installation

1. Open the tailgate and remove the trunk liner to access the rear wiring cavity
2. Locate the factory rear badge and release the retaining clips from inside the tailgate panel
3. Feed the LED emblem harness through the tailgate panel into the interior wiring cavity
4. Route the harness to the license plate light or tail light circuit — connect red wire to positive (+) and black wire to ground (−)
5. Insulate each wire connection individually with electrical tape
6. Press the LED emblem firmly into the factory mounting position until all clips engage
7. Test illumination before refitting the trunk liner panel
